Infinite Possibilities Conference (IPC) is a national conference designed to promote, educate, encourage and support minority women interested in mathematics and statistics. On March 31, the conference will feature a full day for its high school program – Exploring Possibilities at IPC– a collaborative venture to advance more effective mathematics education. A program has been developed that exposes female high school students to opportunities in mathematics and statistics and provides high school teachers with the tools to encourage student interest.
Highlights of the program include:
- Active learning workshops, team-building projects, and creative problem solving activities for high school students and teachers.
- A discussion of successful initiatives for broadening participation in mathematics.
- Networking opportunities with mathematics professionals representing a diverse set of mathematics-related careers.
- Portfolios for high school teachers containing innovative ideas for teaching mathematics, including the activities from the conference.
